Moths

To dream of a moth represents a person or situation that annoys you with unexplained emptiness that may seem trivial but is actually significant. An unwanted and persistent presence that intrudes and interferes with the dreamer's peace and happiness. Feeling creeped out by the unknown. Emptiness that is imposing itself on you. Feeling annoyed by someone interfering or intruding on your happiness. There may be a need to confront and address hidden or unsettling aspects of your life that are interfering with your peace and happiness.

Example: A woman dreamed of a white moth. In real life a relative had died and she didn't want to go to the funeral. In this case the moth may have reflected the woman's persistent nagging feeling that attending the funeral will be an unwelcome intrusion on her peace and happiness. Additionally, the moth's association with the unknown may reflect the woman's fear of the uncertainty and unpredictability of attending the funeral and confronting her emotions about her relative's death.

Example 2: A young girl dreamed of seeing a guy she liked catching a moth and putting in a paper bag. In waking life she discovered some really negative unpleasant information about a guy she liked. It was difficult for her to get it off her mind and accept it. She was annoyed by the gossip ruining her perfect happy view of the guy she liked. The dream may be a signal that he needs to seek proper medical attention and address the underlying issues causing the ulcers.

Example 3: A man dreamed of moths eating his roof. In his waking life, he was suffering from stomach ulcers that were gradually worsening. In this case the moths may have reflected his feelings of annoyance with the emptiness of his ulcers that never have a medical explanation that were intruding on his ability to enjoy his life feeling normal.

Example 4: A woman dreamed of seeing a moth and wondering if it was actually a butterfly. Eventually she sees that it's really a moth and watches the moth walk off. In waking life she's experienced her drug addicted son steal jewelry during holidays and had to cut off communication with him. In this case the moth may have reflected her feelings about her son's addiction and the unexplained emptiness it has brought into her life, which initially seemed trivial but has now become a significant and painful problem that she had to cut off communication with him to deal with.

Example 5: A woman dreamed of a moth that flew out of her house causing her to be afraid. The moth returned and transformed into a butterfly which made her feel better. In waking life her 17 year relationship ended with her boyfriend while she still had 3 children to take care of. She feared her children would lose their father while still living with him even after the relationship ended. In this case the moth may have reflected her fear and anxiety about the unknown and uncertain future of her children's relationship with their father after the end of her own long-term relationship.

Example 6: An older woman dreamed of seeing a large moth. In waking life, she noticed that her drug addicted son repeatedly robbed her of jewelry and was having trouble accepting her son this way. In this case, the large moth may have reflected her feelings of annoyance, emptiness, and intrusion caused by her son's drug addiction and his actions of stealing her jewelry.
