To dream of receiving a message represents feelings about understanding the true nature or seriousness of a matter. Finally "getting the message." Realizations that you need to allow something unpleasant to happen because you can't control it. Feeling that someone is trying to convey a hint to you. Awareness of yourself not listening as well as you should have. Unexpected news or developments.
Negatively, dreaming of receiving a message may reflect feelings about embarrassing realizations, or feeling stupid for not understanding a subtle signal sooner. A serious wake up call. Difficulty accepting unpleasant facts. Realization that you weren't paying as close attention to the reality of a situation as you should have. Example: A woman dreamed of receiving a message from her grandmother. In waking life she was struggling to help her brother get out of jail. After all her options to help her brother had been exhausted she finally realized that she had to give up and let her brother go to jail with the full sentence with no way to stop it.
Example 2: A man dreamed of something delivering a spoken message to him abut winning the lottery of which he didn't believe at first. When the person delivering the message said he had the winning ticket with the dreamers name on it the dreamer jumped for joy. In waking life the dreamer was waiting for a very long time for his wealthy controlling father to die. When his father finally was dying he didn't believe it would happen for real until the death was communicated to him by a hospital doctor.
Example 3: A man dreamed of hearing someone trying to tell him a message of which he couldn't hear perfectly. In waking life he had been doing a lot of dream studies and was convinced that his dreams were trying to tell him something important that he couldn't understand.

Text Messages
To dream of text messages represents unspoken communication of ideas or intentions. Telling someone what you're thinking without actually telling them. Text messages may reflect body language, tone of voice, or an unspoken gesture.
Negatively, text messages may represent false assumptions you've made about unspoken communication. Making plans or decisions based on assumptions, hints, or body language. Unspoken communication that is mean, arrogant, or criminal.
To dream about sexting or sexual text messages represents unspoken communication of ideas or intentions about pleasure. It may also reflect your unspoken wish to have sex with someone through gestures or body language.
Example: A girl dreamed of her sister text messaging a boy she liked. In waking life, she was insecure about the boy she liked liking her sister more after she introduced them. To dream of being in an accident represents waking life errors of judgment or mistakes you've made. Feelings about an oversight you've made or weren't thinking about your actions carefully beforehand. Feelings about having a problem you need to fix. Conflicting ideas, goals, or situations. Conflicting decision-making or directions in life with someone else. Relationships, friendships, or business decisions in conflict with similar goals.
Car accidents in a dream may also reflect a collision of ideas or agendas with other people. Two people getting into a fight about different ways of living and not wanting to talk to each other anymore. A social mishap that neither you nor other people want to be responsible for.
To dream of other objects or vehicles other than cars crashing may reflect feelings about potential problems arising in your life. Failures. Conflicts or embarrassments. Fighting or arguments. A successful area of your life that has suddenly stopped. Conflicting agendas of different people colliding.
Example: A young man dreamed of crashing his car into another car. In waking life, this man's friend found out that he was sleeping with his ex-girlfriend and he had to stop the affair. The crash reflected the conflicting direction of their lives coming to an end.
Example 2: A woman dreamed of getting into a car accident. In waking life she was trying her best to avoid an ex-boyfriend whom she tried to be friends with before finding out he had a new woman pregnant.
Example 3: A woman dreamed of getting into a car accident. In waking life, she got into an argument with her friend and stopped being friends.
Example 4: A man dreamed of getting into a car accident and not knowing how to fix the vehicle. In waking life, he was drawn into a serious problem with people he used to know and police refused to assist him with the problem.
