When you don't get to talk to him, your mind goes into "What has gone wrong?" mode and your subconscious tries to justify why you feel that way, causing you to dream bad things. I don't know if it will help, but try this: on nights when you don't talk to him, tell yourself that nothing has gone wrong and nothing will go wrong. Be sure to do this right before going to bed or it will be much less likely to help.
